Favorite Investing Apps
I’m always on the lookout for good mobile apps to improve my investing performance. Here are three that I have been using for a few months now and have found to be very useful for different aspects of investing.
Notifications
Notifications are a very important aspect for active investors. I have tried several mobile apps and even brokerage account tools from their websites. So far my favorite for ease of use, convenience and timeliness is a simple little free advertising supported app called JStock. Just add a ticker symbol and then place your stock alert target prices. When your price target is met you’ll get a notification.
The only downside is that you will likely continue to get notifications until you change the target price. Under setting you can change the notification type to email if you prefer. All things considered this is a great little app for notifications. Here is a screenshot of the Stock Alert screen.
Sector Watch
Sometimes I just want a quick at-a-glance snapshot of what’s going on in the market. For this I like to use the State Street’s select sector SPDRs app. You can quickly see what sectors are move up or down in the market. Naturally you can also tap on any sector and get more information on each sector ETF.
If you want more details on each sector see the Dividend Geek Sector Watch page.
Watchlist Info
CNBC has a great app for all kinds of market news. Their user experience and interface is amazing. Tons of great stuff right at your fingertips.
So far I have setup my ETF watchlist, which also generates your own custom Watchlist News section. I also like their notifications, but be sure to drill into the notification settings and turn off the stuff you don’t want, otherwise you can get too many notifications.
Feel free to give these apps a try. I hope they will help you keep on top of things and focused on what is important to you! I would be interested do know what apps you have found useful to you and share them to our little community.

I love how this site has been slowly progressing. The quality of information is extremely useful and makes long term care investing easy. Thank you for all you do!!!
One of the apps that I like is My Stocks Portfolio, but the usable apps for my use is limited as many apps don’t show ETFS or mutual funds of the Netherlands. So, my first check when using an app is looking if some common used tickers are found with the app.
